Doris Ann McGee Geouge

Doris Ann McGee Geouge, age 60, of the Blue Rock Community, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 20th at Mission Hospital.  A native of Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Dooley McGee and Joann Garland McGee of Morganton.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Devon Geouge who passed away on January 8th.  Doris was a member of Newdale Fire Department and Newdale First Responders who enjoyed her camaro, her firebird and hot rods.  She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed.

Surviving is in addition to her mother, Joann, is her loving husband of 44 years, James Richard “Dickie” Geouge; daughters:  Tonya Beaver (Johnny Huskins) and Stacey Mayes (Gary Godfrey); adopted sons: Blake Mayes, Jeffrey Geouge and Benjamin Geouge; grandchildren: Christian Beaver, Zachary Beaver and Dominick Beaver; sister, Janice Collins (Roy); brothers: Jimmie McGee and Allen McGee (Kathy); sister-in-law, Janice McKinney (Tommy) and brother-in-law, Tony Geouge.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 24th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services.  Rev. Holt Whitson will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m.  prior to the services at the funeral home.  Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday in Blue Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.
