Town of Spruce Pine Phone Notification System

The Spruce Pine Town Council voted unanimously to move forward with implementing a phone notification system. The town’s recent water issues and the accompanying boil water notices and system pressure advisories make it necessary for an enhanced communication system.  CallFire, a cloud telephone company has been chosen to establish the system. The town will pay $950 per year for 30,000 minutes on the system. Additional minutes can be added and leftover minutes roll into the next year. It is estimated the town could notify all town customers about eight times a year. The town will provide all of its current town phone numbers. Those living in the town are urged to provide the town with valid contact numbers. The new system can make 10,000 calls in a minute and can be customized to only call certain segments.
