The Yancey Farmer’s Market will receive a grant from Dogwood Health Trust to cover the expense of engaging the Appalachian State Integrative Design Experience Laboratory (IDEXLab) program to provide their services to bring a group of students to design and construct the new farmer’s market facility. The new facility will be located where the original Burnsville Hospital and former Senior Center building was recently demolished on West Main Street in Burnsville. The next step will be a meeting with Appalachian State for them to come to Burnsville, evaluate the site, discuss a potential construction budget and establish a timeline for working with the students. Yancey County Economic Development applied for the Dogwood Trust grant on behalf of the Yancey Farmer’s Market.
