How to Help Feed-A-Child WNC

Feed-A-Child Yancey provides  healthy snacks to kids who are on free or reduced lunches during the school week but then have little or nothing to eat over the weekends. They package the snacks in grocery-type bags and then deliver them to the schools that have identified the children in need. The schools then make sure the kids have the bags before they leave school on Fridays for the weekend.depends on donations to sustain the program. They are operational with the help of a dedicated group of volunteers. Their volunteers help by assembling the bags that each child takes home and by delivering food to each of the nine public schools in Yancey County.
