Ruthie Morrow

Ruthie Morrow, age 51, of Candler, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 24th, 2020 at Haywood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of Evelyn Bradford Morrow and the late Bill “Mule Man” Morrow.

She was also preceded in death by maternal grandparents: Richmond and Ruby Calloway Bradford; paternal grandparents: Jethro Adam “Jete” and Elese Kurkendall Morrow; step-grandmother, Lula Bradford; uncles: Richard Bradford and Kenneth Morrow; step-sister-in-law, Kathy Owenby and her dogs: Dixie and Midget.  Ruthie loved her family, animals and was Loretta Lynn’s biggest fan.  She had a big heart and cared about everyone.

Surviving in addition to her mother, Evelyn Bradford Morrow, is her husband, Michael Owenby; step-daughters: Donna Penland, Tela Peterson, Kimberly Burnette (Will) and Frances Hyatt (Jason); step-son, Scottie Owenby (Barbara); sisters: Christine Holley (Wes), of Fairview; Jennifer Odette (Brian) of Candler, Crystal Morrow of Fairview and Laura Amerson (Larry) of Fletcher; step-sisters and brothers-in-law: Brenda and Paul Gandy, Mary and Robert Knowels and Patrick Owenby.  Also surviving is numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her dog, Lexi.

Private family services will be held in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services.  Rev. William Pruitt will officiate.   Private Burial will be in the Piney Hill Cemetery.
