Muriel Bennett Laws

Muriel Bennett Laws, age 82, of the Booneford Community, left her worldly home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, April 1st, 2020 at the home of her daughter.

A native of Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Baxter and Willetta Canipe Bennett and the wife of the late Jay Laws, who passed away in 2006. She was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, John Stephen Briggs; sisters: Kay Johnson and Grace Bennett and a brother, Bill Bennett. She was a very kind and loving mother and Ninnie, and she will be deeply missed by all of her family and loved ones.

Surviving is her daughter, Kathy Briggs and husband, Claude, of Arbuckle; sons: Jerry Laws and wife, Rosie, of Booneford and Randy Laws of the home; grandchildren: Stephen Briggs (Misty), Stephanie Briggs Whitson (Jody), Amanda Johnson (Scott) and Jeff Laws (Autumn); great-grandchildren: Tyler Briggs, Kasey Johnson, Jenson and Jaymus Laws; siblings: Nelda Baker and husband, Luther, of Bakersville, Paul Bennett of Johnson City, TN, Arthur Bennett of Asheville and Timothy Bennett and wife, Brenda, of Spruce Pine. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive.

Private family services will be held in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Joe Bennett and Jeff Laws will officiate. Burial will follow in the Will Young Cemetery.

The family would like to say a very special thank you to Compassionate Care WNC for the wonderful care given to Muriel and loving support to our family. You will never know how much you mean to us. Also a special thank you to the Ugly Quilters of Higgins United Methodist Church for the beautiful quilt they made and prayed over for Muriel.
