Juanita Black Bodford

Juanita Black Bodford, age 75, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 16th, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Nell Fox Black. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Bodford, who passed away on April 5th, 2020 as well as her granddaughter, Chrisy McClure Ray. Juanita was an active member of West Burnsville Church of God. For many years, she operated a home daycare where she was lovingly known as “Miss Juanita”.
Left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Donna McClure and husband, Steve of Burnsville; son, Billy Bodford and Stephanie of Mars Hill; grandson, Bryan McClure and wife, Samantha of Burnsville: great-grandsons: Grayson McClure, Steven and Treven Ray, and their father, Justin Ray, all of Burnsville; brother, Ralph Black of Bill Allen Branch; sisters: Elizabeth Robinson and husband, Richard, of South Toe, and Phyllis Crosby and husband, Gary, of Bill Allen Branch; brother and sister-in-law, Gail and Shin Bodford of Bill Allen Branch. Several other extended family members also survive.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19th in the Pete Young Cemetery. Rev. Randal Phillips will officiate. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. to go in procession.
