Rev. Marvin Dale Silvers

Rev. Marvin Dale Silvers, age 58, of Lawhern Lane in Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 30th, 2020 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro from complications sustained in a 4-wheeler accident on April 7th .

Born on July 18th, 1961 he was a son of Turner Silvers and the late Shirley Mae Honeycutt Silvers; maternal grandparents: Clifton and Naomi Honeycutt and paternal grandparents: Joe and Lois Silvers.

Marvin grew up on Byrd Branch in the Jacks Creek Community. He was a loving husband, son, brother and uncle.

Marvin worked at Parker Lumber as a Debark Operator for many years but his main work was for the Lord. He was called to preach in September of 1990 and pastored several churches in Yancey and Mitchell Counties. He loved to brag on his Lord and when he was not preaching, he attended churches in the area to hear other preachers. Marvin also loved the outdoors and was a skilled hunter of deer, bears and turkeys, not to mention his love of fishing. He also loved to attend local flea markets where he made friends with everyone.

Surviving is his loving wife of 30 years, Marleena Reavis Silvers; his father, Turner Silvers and wife, Mary Lou; brothers: Joel Silvers and wife, Cheryl, and Melvin Silvers and wife, Misty,; sisters: Dedra Felts and husband, Richard, Denise Silvers and companion, Deon Carter, and Marsha Wilhelm and husband, Ray and nephews and nieces: Bailey Silvers, Ethan Silvers, Corey McInturff, Scyron Dykes, Sheryl Wilhelm, Sirray Wilhelm, Natasha Lentz, Justina Fox and Katie Lamson. Numerous cousins also survive.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 4th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services with Rev. Donald Whitson, Rev. Ronnie Whitson and Rev. Clyde Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Peterson Cemetery on Jacks Creek.
