Darlene W. Briggs

Darlene W. Briggs A.K.A. “Bubbles”, age 62, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 28th, 2020 at her home.

A native of Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Ward and Betty Joe Daniels.  She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Homer and Vide Ward and her grandparents of whom she considered her parents, Mable and Donald Daniels; her step-brother, Marty King; her uncle, John Henry; and her aunts: Hildred Webb and Shirley Woody.

Surviving is her mother and step-father, Betty Joe and Casey Woody of Spruce Pine; husband, James Randall “Randy” Briggs; son, Dewayne Crowder and wife, Becky of Morganton; daughter, Robin Crowder of Hickory; granddaughters: Kristen Stewart and her husband, Jeremy, and Taylor Crowder all of Morganton: grandsons, Nick Crowder and wife Madicyen of Morganton, Dylan Beam and Bradley Shepherd both of Burnsville; great-granddaughters, Clara Ann and Caroline; sisters: Carla Woody Catalano and her husband, Frank of Spruce Pine, and Jody Carswell and husband, Larry of Morganton; brothers: Rick Ward of Spruce Pine, Homer Ward of Morganton, and Pete Bolick and wife, Sybil of Greensboro. Several other extended family members and close friends whom she thought of like sisters also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 1st, in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Reverends Buck Thomason, Jerry Shelton, and Dale Laws will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Private burial will follow in the Briggs Family Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations to be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
