As we prepare to celebrate our nation’s birth, keep in mind this holiday may be difficult for those who struggle with alcohol use. If any friends or family who struggle with alcohol use are joining you for a celebration, the safest decision is to not serve any alcohol. If you do, be sure to offer other non-alcoholic options. Also keep alcohol in a visible location and be prepared to put it away if someone needs to be “cut off.” In addition, remember to keep alcohol out of the hands of minors. It is illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to drink in the US no matter who provides it or where it is given.
