One Confirmed Case of COVID-19 in Mitchell County
Two Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 in Avery County
Ledger, NC (August 4, 2020). Toe River Health District, Yancey, Mitchell and Avery Counties, were notified today, about the following positive cases in our district.
Avery County had 2 new positives today which puts them at 101 positive cases, 68 have recovered and 33 active.
Yancey County had 5 new positives today which puts them at106 positive cases, 95 have recovered and 10 active and 1 death. Mitchell County had 1 new positives today which putsthem at 117 positive cases, 102 have recovered, 13 active and 2 deaths.
Public health staff is working to complete the investigations and they are contacting close contacts to contain the spread of disease. To protect individual privacy, no further information about the cases will be released.
The Yancey, Mitchell and Avery County Health Departments will keep the public informed by announcing any additional cases that may arise through our local media partners.

follow their advice. If you are having a medical emergency, call 9-1-1 and inform the dispatcher that you have symptoms ofCOVID-19. Remember that 80% of coronavirus cases generate only mild symptoms.
Because COVID-19 is most commonly spread through respiratory droplets, the Health Department urges everyone to take precautions to protect themselves from the spread of all respiratory illness, including flu and COVID-19:
