The Town of Bakersville has appointed Abby Garland to three of the town’s positions. Garland takes over the duties of town clerk, finance officer and tax collector. At the Bakersville Town Council meeting on July 27th they approved a resolution allowing her to hold both the tax collector and finance officer roles, after getting state approval. The state approval was required because normally these roles are filled by separate people. Garland was sworn in by Bakersville Mayor Charles Vines on July 28th. Abby Garland is a Mitchell County native who graduated with a degree in accounting from ETSU.
