Mary Magdalene Tipton, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday August 27th, 2020 at the Mitchell House in Spruce Pine. A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Murphy and Bonnie Edwards Hensley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Tipton; six brothers and five sisters. After retiring as a seamstress, Mary enjoyed gardening, canning and quilting.
Left to cherish her memory is her niece, Wanda Ledford and husband Reece, of Weaverville, N.C.; sister Winnie Stines of Fairview, N.C. and several other nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Tipton will lie in state from 3 until 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 29th, in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday August, 30th conducted by Rev. Cline Hensley (nephew) in the Ashlawn Garden’s Cemetery in Weaverville, NC.
