Phone and Internet Interruption Tonight

A required equipment upgrade to improve the availability of broadband services in Frontier Communications’ Mitchell County-Bakersville network facility will be performed between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. on October 21. During this time, no phone or internet service will be available and may impact some Frontier customers in Yancey, Madison and McDowell Counties.

This work is anticipated to be completed during the described network maintenance hours. Frontier network engineers will work as quickly as possible to complete the network upgrade. Cell service is also likely to be impacted.

Impacts from the network upgrade are expected to be limited to the Mitchell County-Bakersville area. However, services to some customers in Yancey, Madison and McDowell counties could also be affected.

Mitchell County 911 post: Anyone that needs a response during those hours should dial 911 for assistance if you find you do not have service proceed to your closest Fire Department as they should be manned. Your safety is our main concern and if you have any concerns prior to that time please reach out to the Communications Center at 8285889110 or contact the Communications Manager at 8283850795. Please reach out to neighbors that may not have social media and assure they are okay. If there is a resident you feel we need to be specifically alert to during these hours do not hesitate to reach out to us for that.
