COVID-19 Positive Student at Greenlee Elementary School

Mitchell County School Superintendent Chad Calhoun notified the Staff, Students, Parents, and Guardians of Mitchell County Schools that a student at Greenlee School tested positive for CoVID-19 on Thursday, October 22nd.

In the notification recipients were assured that masks were worn consistently by all staff and students.

Due to the possibility of exposure, students and staff on the bus of the positive student will be placed on remote learning to allow a quarantine period through Sunday, November 1st.   Students in the classroom were not within six feet and masks were worn.  Mitchell County Health Department is not recommending quarantine for those students.

Parents and students in this classroom and on the bus have been notified by the school administration.  Any student(s) or staff affected by the potential exposure will be contacted individually by the Mitchell County Health Department. The school bus and the classroom have been deep cleaned today as well.

Calhoun added that the schools will continue to follow safety protocols and work in partnership with the Mitchell County Health Department to ensure a safe learning environment is maintained throughout the Mitchell County School System.
