Frances Dicks

Frances Dicks, age 82, of Spruce Pine, died Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Care Partners in Asheville.

Born on February 14, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Beulah Holland Rice. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dicks who passed away in 1996. Also preceding her in death were her sisters; Shirley Robbins and Judy Rohn and husband, Lewis and her brother, Archie Rice.

Along with her husband, she was the owner and operator of Dick’s Gems and Gifts in Spruce Pine for over thirty years. She enjoyed playing cards, particularly rook and canasta. She also enjoyed traveling and had traveled to the western United States including the Grand Canyon. Her travels also included trips to Florida and the beach. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her yard, working in her flowers and hunting gem stones.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter; Debra Moore of Spruce Pine; her son; Richard A. Dicks, Sr. and wife, Paula of Bakersville; her step daughter; Marcia Kaye of Indianapolis, Indiana; her step son; Robert Copeland of Indianapolis, Indiana; her grandchildren; John, Christina, Allen, Shaun, and Beth; her great grandchildren; Alex, Christian, Rachel, Monica, Kylie, Raine, Auden, and Miles; and her great great grandson; Roman.

A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Saturday, November 28, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Dallas Renfro officiating. Interment will be in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.
