Fred Medford, age 83, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on January 13, 2021. His family knew him a strong, independent, loving father and paw paw.
Fred spent much of his life working in lumber, but very much enjoyed bee keeping where he sold local honey for years to the Spruce Pine community. Fred also spent much of his summer days gardening where he was well known throughout the community for providing fresh vegetables to anyone who asked.
Fred was a proud Korean War veteran and a patriotic American that dearly loved his country. He was also a member of Altapass Church of God where he loved Christ and his church family dearly.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn Medford, His father, Lee Medford, His mother Lennie Biddix Medford and several brothers and sisters.
Fred is survived by his two daughters Jackie Hyatt and Janet Medford, his brother Jack Medford, Sisters Carolyn and Rosalee Medford, granddaughters Haleigh Moore and husband Larry of Spruce Pine, Kacey Garland of Spruce Pine, and Madison and Marlee Hyatt of Spruce Pine and his great grandchildren, Levi Bowman, Hanna Bowman, Adelyn Clemmons and Cora Clemmons.
