Mabel Angel, age 77, of the Langford Branch Community, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 16th, 2021, unexpectedly at her home.
A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Hazel Riddle Angel. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Hylemon.
Mabel was a lifetime member of Elk Shoal Baptist Church where she was the treasurer for 50 years, directed the Christmas Play and the Director for Vacation Bible School.
Mabel had a heart of a servant, always taking care of her family. She enjoyed playing softball in her younger years, was an Atlanta Braves fan and liked to cook.
Surviving is her brothers: George Angel of Mars Hill, James Angel and wife, Mary, of Woodfin and Kenneth Angel of Newdale; nephews: Anthony Angel of Woodfin and Jeff Angel (Sherri) of Woodfin; great-nephews: Stephen Angel (Autumn) and Michael Angel; great, great-niece, Bella “Her Little Sweetie” and great, great-nephews: Ayden and Avery.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Stacy Elkins officiating. Burial will follow in the McIntosh Cemetery.
