Ellen Gortney Anglin, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021 at her home.
A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Callie Silver Gortney. She was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Christine Gortney and an infant brother, Billy Ray Gortney.
Ellen worked at Henredon Furniture Manufacturing for many years. She enjoyed flower gardening, canning and going to Pigeon Forge. She loved and adored her family.
Survived by her husband of 51 years, James Anglin: sons: Reece Anglin (Judy) of Marshall and Pat Anglin (Kelly) of Jacks Creek; sister, Janice Howell of Blue Rock; grandchildren: Sissy, Gracy, Harley, Marshall, Lane, and Albrey Anglin and Dillon Wilson and one great-grandchild, Levi Anglin. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Revs. Coy Wheeler, Keith Blankenship, Randal Phillips and Danny Silvers will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in the Charlie Anglin Cemetery.
