Monica Williams Rathburn, age 35, of Burnsville, passed away on Monday, March 1st, 2021.
A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the Priscilla Leona Wheeler and the late Scott Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kelly Rathburn; paternal grandparents, Dewey and Lizzie Williams and maternal grandfather, Edgar Wheeler; aunt, Susan Williams and uncle, Edward Wheeler.
Monica enjoyed arts and crafts, camping, music, often times dedicating songs on the radio to her friends, photography, propagating flowers and plants but most of all she loved and adored her children. She had a caring heart, would give you the shirt off her back, always helping others.
Surviving in addition to her mother, Priscilla, is her children: Elijah, Lilly and Lucas; sister, Lindsey Duncan; brother, Brandon “Bam” Williams and wife, Adrianne, of Leicester; grandmother, Millie Silvers (JB); aunts: Brenda Mundy, Donna Agner, Kathy Ayers, Loretta Allen and Angela Silvers and Sandra Norris; uncles: Earmel Wheeler, Jimmie Wheeler, Delane Wheeler, Randy Williams and Allen Williams; niece, Madison Harris; nephew, Dalton Huskins; father and mother-in-law, Teresa and Doug McClure of Mars Hill and her dogs, Siley and Copper. Numerous cousins and friends also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10th in the Gurley Cemetery on Mudslinger Drive, Burnsville, NC. Rev. Bradley Boone and Rev. Nathan Wheeler will officiate.
