Fred M. Carmack

Fred M. Carmack age 61, of the Cane River Community, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 13th, 2021.

A native of Lexington, KY, he was a son of Thelma Edwards Carmack of Piney Hill and the late Roscoe Carmack.  He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Jim Sparks of Erwin, TN.  Fred worked for NCDOT for 18 years.  He was an incredible husband, father and grandfather and will be missed more than words can describe by his family.  He enjoyed life every single day working, piddling and most of all SUNSHINE.

In addition to his mother, Thelma, Fred leaves behind his loving wife of almost 40 years, Anita Sparks Carmack, who he called “Red”; son, Lance Carmack and wife, Melanie, of Burnsville; daughter, Amanda “Mandi” Trice and husband, Dustin, of Newland; grandchildren: Remington, Ava, Tucker, Max and Lillee (Little Bit); brother,  James “JW” Carmack and wife, Laura, of Piney Hill; sister, Margie Bell and husband, Curt, of Hamilton, OH; mother-in-law, Judy Sparks of Erwin, TN; nephews: Cody Wilson, Kolton Carmack and Travis Bell and a niece, Nicole Sparks.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 in the Piney Hill Cemetery.  Rev. Todd Robinson will officate.

The family wishes to say a very special thank you to the EMS workers, First Responders and everyone at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital for all they did to help Fred.
