Dixie Hogan Hollifield, age 92, of Dale Road in Spruce Pine transitioned from this world peacefully at her home on March 23, 2021. Born on May 15, 1928, she was the daughter of Vera Hogan.
Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hollifield, her son Jeff, and her grandson, Tony Pittman.
Dixie is survived by her daughter, Linda Pittman of Bear Creek and the Bear Creek Baptist Church community. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by her granddaughters, their spouses & great-grandchildren: Angela Pittman – Vanderweide (Craig Vanderweide & Lucy); Crissy Hollifield (Megan Huff, Jordan, and Cooper) and Cheltsea Duncan (Nathan Duncan, Gabriel, and Michael).
Dixie enjoyed visiting with her friends, seeing her family, growing roses, and sitting on her porch to view the mountains.
Dixie was a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Burnsville, NC. She had many sisters and brothers within the congregation, including her two best friends, Linda & Virginia. Many of the people within her spiritual family and the staff at Hospice helped her daughter, Linda, to care for her at home in the last few months. The family is very appreciative of their prayers and assistance.
Private graveside services and interment will be on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery with Don Kelly officiating.
