The Spruce Pine Town Council has voted to provide $6000 for the Riverside Park story trail project. The project is in conjunction with AMY Regional Library, Blue Ridge Partnership for Children, Penland School of Craft and Williams YMCA of Avery County. The trail allows park visitors to follow a story while walking around the park. A pilot program with two different books was successful. Funding will allow it to become a permanent trail with 18 metal stands for the book displays and audio speakers that will read the story in English and Spanish. The story trail team has written three grants plus has help from the project partners, fundraising and other donations to go along with the Town’s allocation.
