The Fund for Mitchell County has awarded $17,590 in grants to Mitchell County nonprofits. Altapass Foundation will receive $2000 to construct a wheelchair ramp with railings. Mitchell County Animal Rescue will receive $2000 for neuter/spay and vaccination programs. Mitchell-Yancey Habitat for Humanity receives $3000 for low income home repairs. $2590 goes to Neighbors Feeding Neighbors for personal care items for low income families. $2000 will go to Pisgah Legal Services for free services for low income people. $2000 will be awarded to TRACTOR for local produce for low income families and $2000 to WAMY for home repairs for low income people.
The Fund for Mitchell County, in partnership with The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, has awarded grants totaling $744,109.
