Janet Lee Ester, aged 84, of Burnsville, NC and formerly of Towson, MD passed away on April 15, 2021.
Born in Nampa, Idaho, Janet grew up in Pasadena, CA the daughter of a Nazarene preacher and his lovely wife, Harold and Janet “Jane” Gretzinger.
She met the love of her life at age 13, and eventually married him. She and Professor John W. Ester, Sr. were married for 43 years until his death in 2003.
Janet was known for her beautiful smile and kind heart. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Her favorite activity was to plan, cook for, and host dinner parties and picnics for church friends, neighbors, University of Maryland law students and her children’s classes at her home in Baltimore County.
Janet was a long time member of Maryland Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and where she met most of her close friends. Janet raised her children and then worked as a bookkeeper at the Johns Hopkins Club.
Surviving are her children: Victoria Forsee, Joanna Flynn (Bret Murphy), and John Ester, Jr. (Meghan Charles); granddaughters: Mara Flynn, Leela Ester, and Juniper Ester; step-grandsons: Max and Cooper Murphy and dear friends: Betty Adams and Lucille D’Onofrio.
A small service will be held in Towson, Maryland where her ashes will be buried with her husband.
