Charlene Hopson Hensley, age 85, of the Bald Mountain Community, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 16th, 2021 at her home. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Clifford Hopson and Nora Deyton Hopson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Fred “Sonny” Hensley. Charlene was a loving mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She enjoyed working in her garden and flowerbeds. She was a faithful member of Bee Log Baptist Church.
Surviving is her sons: Roger Hensley and wife, Diana, of Bald Mountain and Ronald Hensley and wife, Rhonda, of Bald Mountain; three grandchildren: Robert Hensley and wife, Jalyn, of Erwin, TN, Hollie Morgan and husband, Matthew, of Mars Hill and Trent Hensley of Prices Creek and four great-grandchildren: Bristol Silvers, Ellison Silvers, Bristol Briggs and Ridge Morgan.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30pm on Tuesday, April 20th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30pm prior to the service. Rev. Aaron Autrey and Rev. Kelly Bryant will officiate. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 11am in the Hensley Cemetery on Bald Mountain. Family request that all guest and family members attending the visitation and services to please bring and wear a mask at all times and maintain social distancing.
