French Broad Employee Dies in Tragic Accident

On Thursday April 15th, long time French Broad Electric employee Danny Hensley was severely injured while he was working to repair a bent auger on his truck.  The auger was bent while digging the hole for a pole to be set.  Danny hooked the winch to the auger in an attempt to straighten out the bend.  The hook slipped off the auger and struck him in the head.  He was airlifted to Johnson City Hospital where he later passed away on Saturday, April 17th from injuries sustained in this tragic accident.

Jeff Loven, CEO and General Manager of French Broad Electric in a written statement said, “Danny Hensley was a dedicated and decorated employee for French Broad Electric.  He was our most senior line foreman and possessed a wealth of experience and knowledge he was always willing to share with other employees.  He had a “larger than life” personality and was always a joy to be around.  His work ethic was legendary; no one would ever “out-work” Danny Hensley.  His knowledge, leadership, and expertise in the field will be missed.  His friendship and dedication to FBEMC as well as his fellow employees will be impossible to replace.  Danny was held in the highest regards at FBEMC and our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to his family.”
