Homeowners Should Check For Bats Before May 1

If you suspect bats are roosting around your home it is important that you check before pup rearing season which begins May 1st. The NC Wildlife Commission is asking you to relocate them immediately. If you think there are bats living in gable vents, behind a shutter, in your chimney or other nook areas around your house you can call the Wildlife Control Agent to have them safely removed. Go to NC Wildlife.org.  If you can’t get them removed before May 1, leave them until the end of July. A Wildlife Control Agent can seal off entryways that lead into living space to minimize human contact.  Bats hibernate in winter but will start to come out now. Remember bats are good ecologically, providing pest control. For more information call 866-318-2401 or email HWI@ncwildlife.org.
