Ruth Evangeline Archer, 103, passed peacefully on May 1.
Pianist, vocalist, violinist, teacher, and prolific author of letters to the editor, Ruth had a heart for justice and great empathy for the underdog.
Born in Iquique, Chile on October 11, 1917 Ruth was the daughter of Margaret Masters Archer and Rev. William Brady Archer. Ruth leaves behind a daughter Sylvia (Susan Spruill), grandchildren Ayla McKinney (Brinton), Abel Wilson, and great grandson Holt McKinney as well as many friends and students, all with interesting stories to tell.
Desiring to be useful even past death Ruth donated her body to the
ETSU Quillen College of Medicine.
