On May 8, Mitchell County Sheriff’s Deputies Taylor Silvers, Benjamin Hollifield and Nick Bowman responded to an alarm at Roan Mountain Pharmacy in Bakersville. They found the front door smashed in. After leaving the scene of the crime Bowman was in the Minpro area, when he saw a sedan traveling at high speed toward Spruce Pine. Bowman turned to follow the vehicle and shortly after, he found the vehicle crashed into a guardrail at the intersection of Penland Road and NC 226 South. Two males were running away from the vehicle. The two men were taken into custody with the help of the Spruce Pine Police Department. Video surveillance footage from Roan Mountain Pharmacy and other evidence recovered at the scene, in the vehicle and on the men linked the pair to the burglary.

Dilion Janquan McCain, age 18, and Keyshawn Ramiro Keaton, age 18, both of Greensboro, NC, were arrested. McCain is charged with the breaking and entering of a pharmacy and damage to real property and is being held on $77,500 bond while Keaton is charged with aiding and abetting the breaking and entering of a pharmacy and is being held on $75,000 bond.
