The District Attorney for District 42, Andrew Murray, has dropped charges against one of the suspects in the murder of Thomas Bryson. Phillip Stroupe Sr. was charged with accessory after the fact. But, that charge has now been dropped.
Phillip Stroupe II was charged with kidnapping and killing Thomas Bryson in July 2017 and is scheduled to stand trial in July, four years after Bryson’s murder.
His trial was delayed in 2019 because he got a new public defender, then again most recently in 2020 due to the pandemic.
The killing occurred while Stroupe II was leading police on a six day manhunt.
