Robert “David” Silver, age 84, of Spruce Pine, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 21, 2021 at his residence.
Born on November 19, 1936 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Ruth Wyatt Silver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; John White and Mark Silver and a sister; Mary Anne Claus.
David was a proud veteran who retired after 22 years’ service in the US Army. He loved to play his guitar and coin collecting in his spare time. He had a talent for repairing the circuit boards on television’s and other small electronics.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of sixty-six years; Maria Leimeister Silver of the home, his son’s; Fred Silver, of Spruce Pine and Alan Silver of Lexington, SC, his daughters; Elaine Silver and Angie Silver both of Aberdeen NC, and Caroline McDonald of Alabama, his brother; Mike Silver of Oceanside, CA and his sister; Patricia Grindstaff of Greenville, SC.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 7th at 12:00 pm at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
