Fuller “Tommy” Pittman, age 81, of Burnsville, passed unexpectedly from his earthly home into his heavenly home on Monday, May 31st, 2021.
A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Bernie and Pearl Pittman. He was also preceded in death by his sisters: Mary Rose Silvers and June Knight and a nephew, Randy Silvers.
Tommy was a member of West Burnsville Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Choir Director. He retired with Henredon Furniture after 31 years of service.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara Miller Pittman; sister, Wanda Burleson (Ralph) of Asheville; nephew, Ricky Silvers (Dianne) of Burnsville; nieces: Cathy Silvers of Morganton and Dana Little of Asheville; sister-in-law, Shelba Murdock (Gary) of Burnsville; brothers-in-law: Jerry Miller (Jo Ann) of Brevard and Larry Miller (Lisa) of Johnson City, TN and two special friends: Randy Hazelton and Michael McKinney. Several other extended family members also survive, including his church family and neighbors.
A memorial service to celebrate Tommy’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 6th at West Burnsville Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Ray officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the services.
