Marsha Huskins Murphy, age 51, of Seven Mile Ridge, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 1st, 2021 at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer.
A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of Gertrude Wilson Huskins of Seven Mile Ridge and the late Albert Huskins who passed away in 2011.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Rayleen Murphy; brother, Danny “Bub” Huskins and two grandchildren. Marsha was a self-taught pianist who sang to and for the Lord every morning. She was a Member of Freedom Baptist Church but a Pastor’s wife throughout several churches. Marsha was a very strong woman who loved her family and the Lord more than anything.
Surviving in addition to her mother, Gertrude, is her loving and devoted husband of 35 years, Rev. Kent Murphy; sons: Josh Murphy (Mindy) of Supply and Matt Murphy (Megan) of Seven Mile Ridge; grandchildren: Jason, Cooper, Emily, Colby, Cason and Catie Murphy and brothers: Kenneth Huskins (Loretta) and David Huskins (Kathy) all of Seven Mile Ridge. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and several other extended family members also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 4th in Freedom Baptist Church. Rev. Claude Carroll, Rev. Perry Norton and Brian Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
