Crash On Marion Mountain Injures Tennessee Woman

Tracey Patterson, age 56 of Rogersville, TN was driving a motor home off  the mountain on Hwy 226 to Marion on Friday, June 4th when the brakes failed. The incident happened near the Mitchell County line just south of a sand pile runway. The motor home’s brakes failed, causing it to run off the right side of the road, collide with a tree and continue another 200 feet when it caught fire. Witness Kyle Bailey stopped and pulled the victim out of the burning vehicle with the help of another man. Another witness, Kyle’s wife, Hope Bailey said they saw the vehicle flying down the mountain with brakes smoking and the vehicle was on two wheels when it flew over the side of the mountain. Numerous fire and rescue units responded including Parkway Fire and Rescue from Spruce Pine. Tracey Patterson was taken to Baptist Hospital in Winston -Salem and is in serious condition.
