Yancey County Proposed Budget

Monday, June 14 at 6 p.m. there will be a public hearing to receive comments before Yancey County commissioners vote on adopting a budget for fiscal year 2021-22. The proposed budget totals $25,959,167. The 60 cents per $100 in property valuation has been retained. A 2 percent cost of living raise for employees is included. Expenditures are included to upgrade the county’s computers and technology infrastructure. Also included are funds for vehicles that have to be replaced. The largest budget item is for public schools for over $3.9 million, followed by Emergency medical services at over $2.4 million. A copy of the proposed budget, showing the breakdown of both revenue and expenditures is available at the Yancey County Manager’s office. The commissioners’ meeting will be held after the public hearing.
