Helen Jones, age 85, of Snow Creek Road in Bakersville, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at her home.
Born on August 29, 1935 in Mitchell County, Helen was the last surviving child of the late Grover and Bertha Greene Grindstaff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Jones who passed away in 2014. Also preceding her in death was her brothers; Paul, Arnold, Jay, and Carl Grindstaff and her sisters; Louise McClellan and June Willis.
Helen was a member of the Lily Branch Baptist Church. She loved her family and her grandchildren. She enjoyed canning, cooking and sharing delicious meals with family and friends. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzled, sitting on her front porch and watching airplanes fly overhead.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter; Connie Carpenter and son-in-law; Mark McEwan of Bakersville; her grandson; Justin Michael Carpenter of Bakersville; her granddaughter; Cheyenne McEwan of Los Banos, CA; several nieces and nephews.
A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Monday, June 28, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the Lily Branch Baptist Church. The funeral service will be on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Steve Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Lily Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to, Webb Funeral Home to assist with the funeral expenses.
The family would like to extend a ‘Thank You’ to; Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge for their wonderful care of Helen during her illness.
