JoAnn Miller

JoAnn Miller, of Penrose died Thursday, June 24, 2021 at her home. She was preceded in death by her son, Mike Miller; her parents, Kenneth and Thelma Westall; and a brother, Harold Westall.

A native of Yancey County, JoAnn was a caregiver at heart. She was an avid reader, loved to quilt, sew, craft and paint. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family and caring for those she loved.

She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five years, Jerry Lee Miller; two daughters, Kim Owen (Shannon) of Pisgah Forest and Leigh Ann Allen (Todd) of Hendersonville; granddaughters Lauren Owen Ashe (Jalen), Emma Elms and Tiffany Allen, all of Hendersonville; grandsons Seth Owen (Mackenzie) and Colton Allen, both of Hendersonville; a great-granddaughter Gracie Ashe; a great-grandson Owen Ashe; three brothers, Jackie Westall (Betty) of Dawson, GA, Earl Westall (Nancy) of Mills River and Johnny Westall of Burnsville; one sister, Judy Banks (Charles) of Burnsville; two special sisters-in-law, Shelba Murdock (Gary) and Barbara Pittman both of Burnsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a gathering of family and friends to remember and honor JoAnn on Sunday, June 27 from 2 pm – 4 pm at Turkey Creek Baptist Church Fellowship Hall located at 805 Capps Road, Pisgah Forest, NC. A private graveside service will be held at Westall Cemetery on Monday, June 28 at 11 am.
