Charles Franklin “Monroe” Buchanan passed away Monday, July 5th. He was a native of Mitchell County who served as a member of NC House of Representatives from 1985 until 1993, and from 1995 until 2003. He was also a Mitchell County Commissioner from 1978 until 1982. He was previously employed as a truck driver. He was a former member of Bakersville Masonic Lodge and Unicoi Tennessee Masonic Lodge. He was a lifelong member of the NRA and North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission.
