Virginia Michelle Edwards, known to everyone as “Jenny,” went to be with her loving, heavenly Father on Thursday morning, July 15, 2021, while at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Jenny, 28, was a native of Mitchell County and resided in the Fork Mountain Community. She was born on October 1, 1992, the daughter of Gary and Libby Sparks Edwards.
Jenny was a baptized member of McKinney Cove Baptist Church, a graduate of Mitchell High School, and employed at the Bakersville Quick Mart. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, trying out new recipes, and traveling to Tennessee. One of Jenny’s greatest joys in life was that of being a mother to her beloved sons, Jayden and Hunter. She will be remembered as a loving mother with the determination of her own mother and the congeniality of her father.
Jenny is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Myrtle Edwards; her maternal aunt, Virginia Sparks; and maternal great-grandmother, Estelle Sparks.
Surviving are her sons: Jayden Stevens and Hunter Briggs; parents, Gary and Libby Edwards; maternal grandmother, Naomi Sparks; special “brother”, Garland Honeycutt; special “sister”, Angel Ledford; and many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the family, friends, neighbors, ministers, and churches that have reached out with their overwhelming love and prayerful support for Jenny during the past few weeks.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at McKinney Cove Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Ayers, Rev. Don Ford, Rev. Garland Honeycutt and Rev. John McKinney officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 19, 2021, at the Fork Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
