In the open session of the Special Meeting of the Yancey County Board of Education held yesterday the Yancey County Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent contracts were extended through June 30, 2025.
Board member, Vice Chairman Wade Dahlberg made a motion to extend the contract of Superintendent Kathy Amos. The motion was approved by 3-2 vote with Edwin Fortner, Wade Dahlberg and Cody Whitson voting for the extension and Will Hensley and Jeanne Tyner voting against.
Dahlberg also made a motion to extend the contract of Assistant Superintendent Heather Cox to June 30, 2025. That motion was approved by 5-0 vote.
