With the number of positive COVID Cases increasing in Avery, Mitchell and Yancey Counties the Toe River Health District has started reporting COVID numbers again.
The latest numbers, posted Friday, by the Health Department show 18 positive cases in Yancey County last week, Avery had 15 and Mitchell with 5.
According to Diane Creek of the Toe River Health District, Ages across the district are 6-73. The majority of people are in their 30’s and 40’s but there is a significant number of kids under 18.
The Health District says they aren’t sure if this is the Delta variant but suspect that it is. The state has been warning that the Delta variant would be the main form of Covid soon.
Testing for Covid continues at the County Health Departments. Mountain Community Health Partnership is also providing testing. There is no charge for testing.
The Health Departments are providing Moderna vaccinations. Please call for an appointment. There is no cost. Ingles, Walmart, Mountain Community Health Partnership and CVS are also giving the vaccine.
The Toe River Health District is encouraging the public to again practice the 3W’s: Wear a mask, Wait at least 6 feet, and Wash your hands.
