Trena Gayle Penley, age 54, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 30, 2021, at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. A native of Pineville, Kentucky, she is a daughter of Tex Inman and Shirley Reed. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, David Reed. Trena loved her family dearly and enjoyed hiking, kayaking, and tending to her flower gardens while watching the birds and butterflies. She was a kind soul who saw the best in everyone.
Surviving is her loving husband of 35 years, Loren Penley; two sons: Matthew and wife, Kayla, of Crabtree, and Michael and wife, Elizabeth, of Bakersville; sister, Tammy Manning and husband, Sam, of Texas; sister-in-law Karyn Mino and husband, Tom, of Arizona; two brothers-in-law: Cory Penley and wife, Lisa, of Mt. Pleasant, NC, and Mark Tabor and wife, Kelly, of Liberty, NC; and two uncles: Larry Gambrel of NC and Lonnie Gambrel and wife, Pat, of Kentucky. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3rd, in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. Pastor Tom Anglin will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. The family will hold a private burial.
