William Arthur ‘Little Bill’ Cornett, age 81, of Jolt Wagon Trail in Spruce Pine, the Grassy Creek community, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021 at his home with his family by his side.
Bill was a little man with a tough side. He was one of the first on the ground with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. He lived his life by the Airborne creed; ‘I am a trooper of the sky. I am my nations best. In peace and war I will never fail, Anytime, Any Place, Anywhere…I am Airborne.’
He was a proud man and was retired from Baxter Healthcare with thirty years of service. His garden and his yard were always his pride and the best looking in the neighborhood. His family and friends will miss those Rook, Shoot the Moon, and Duke basketball games; fishing trips, and making memories kind of moments.
Left to cherish his memories and miss him are his wife; Carolyn Tolley Cornett; his cats; Casey and Sally; his children; Theresa Stewart and husband, Jim; Mark Cornett; Jennifer Franckowiak and husband, Jeff; his grandchildren; Tia Garland and husband, Justin and Logan Lambert and wife, Brittany; his great grandchildren; Walton and Ellis Garland; Aiden and Scarlette Lambert; his sisters; Judy Potter and husband, Dale and Ann Searcy; his brother; Johnny Cornett and wife, Anne; several in laws and extended family members.
The funeral service for William A. ‘Little Bill’ Cornett will be on Monday, August 16, 2021 in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home and will be officiated by Chrystal Atkins Greene. Interment will be in the Big Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a Special ‘Thank You’ to Hospice of Avery County and everyone else that brought food or called.
