Carl Junior Burleson, age 81, of Wallace Avenue in Spruce Pine, the Humpback community, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Blue Ridge Regional hospital in Spruce Pine.
Born on July 31, 1940 in Avery County, he was the son of the late Robert and Margie Calloway Burleson. Also preceding him in death were his wife, Nancy Wallace Burleson who passed away in 2002; his children; Theresa Burleson and an infant daughter, Jennifer Burleson; his brothers; Audie and Ernest Burleson; his sisters; Edna Benfield, Ida Laster, Betty Benfield, Cora Ward, and Adelaide Justice.
Carl loved spending time with his family and particularly with his grandchildren. He enjoyed being outdoors and working on vehicles. He also enjoyed visiting with family and friends and attending family reunions.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughter; Carlene Woody and husband, Rodney of Spruce Pine; his grandchildren; Michael Woody, Josh Burleson, Jacob Woody and fiancé, Jennifer, and Merannda Woody; several nieces and nephews.
A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 2:30 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev’s. Ken Jenkins and Tex Woody officiating. Interment will be in the Yellow Mountain Cemetery.
