National Park Service Mandatory Masking

Following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Park Service is now requiring visitors, employees and contractors to wear a mask inside all Park Service buildings and in crowded outdoor spaces including trails and overlooks, regardless of vaccination status or community transmission levels.

Deputy Director Shawn Benge said that with visitors to national parks coming from locations across the country, if not across the world, and recognizing that the majority of the United States is currently in substantial or high transmission categories, the National Park Service is implementing a service-wide mask requirement to ensure staff and visitors’ safety.

This requirement is in effect until further notice.
