Alan Duncan, age 73, of Rockledge Road in Spruce Pine, the Swiss Pine Lake community, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Smokey Ridge Health & Rehab in Burnsville.
Born on April 15, 1948 in McDowell County, he was the son of the late Bill and Carol Knepler Duncan.
Alan was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He loved attending the North Carolina Mineral & Gem Festival in Spruce Pine. He enjoyed collecting minerals, gems, and wood. He also enjoyed riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway. He was a fan of NASCAR racing, football, and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Left to cherish his memory are his partner of twenty-five years; Carolyn Green of Spruce Pine; his sisters; Jean Duncan and Susan Mackey both of Marion and Jane Duncan of Hawaii; and his dog, Sadie.
The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date.
