Mitchell County Schools has announced that all three 4th grade classrooms at Gouge Elementary are quarantined due to the number of positive cases, symptomatic individuals and contacts. Gouge School staff and the Mitchell County Health Department will be in contact with parents/guardians for information on curriculum delivery, instructional time and length of quarantine. Mitchell County Schools strongly recommends that masks be worn indoors at all of their schools and maintain at least 3 feet social distance at all times. Quarantine rules are being enforced as public health measures require quarantines when students who are not wearing masks are exposed to the virus. Students are much more likely to avoid being quarantined and having to stay home from school when they wear masks properly inside school buildings.
