Jennifer LeMieux, age 67, of Branch Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.
Born in Pender County, NC, she was the daughter of the late George and Joanne Auchy Spayd. Jennifer was a devoted member of the St. Lucien Catholic Church in Spruce Pine.
Jennifer was a wise and understanding person and was known as a kind and gentle person. She was willing to let people cry and curse and then she would suggest a cup of tea and a hot shower to settle things down. Always eager to lend a helping hand, she was available to serve on most committees or sit a vigil for a dying friend.
Despite believing that life isn’t fair, she wanted fairness for all including numerous letter writings and monetary donations. Throughout her life, Jennifer treated everyone as family. She and Fred traveled internationally, where they enjoyed many exotic foods. Jennifer was an excellent cook serving up to family and friends many dishes she discovered along the way. During the months of March through October, she could be found working in her garden and every year she added new fruits and vegetables. As each new fruit and vegetable ripened, she enjoyed sharing and canning.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of forty-two years; Fred LeMieux of Spruce Pine; her daughter; Jessica L. Weil and husband, Page; her son; Will LeMieux and wife, Lidia; grandson; Felix Weil; her sisters; Sara Spayd and Martha Bursey and husband, Bruce; her nieces; Hannah and Lillian Bursey; and special friends; Marcelle and Buster Henson.
A funeral mass will be on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 8:30 am at the St. Lucien Catholic Church with Father Christopher Bond officiating.
