Stella “Merle” Johnson, age 91, of Cranberry, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021 at her home. A native of Avery County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Faye Ollis Turbyfill. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Grady Johnson; brothers: Charles Ray and Homer Turbyfill; brother-in-law, Kirk Potter and son-in-law, Don Holdren. Merle was a Charter Member of Cranberry Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and especially loved her family.
Surviving is her son, Grady Bob Johnson and wife, Nancy; daughter, Janice Lee Holdren; grandchildren: Cory Holdren (Mandy), John Holdren (Karla), Orion and Jessica Johnson; great-grandchildren: Cole and Chloe Holdren and Kristan Whitson; sister, Jewell Potter and sister-in-law, Patsy Turbyfill. Several other extended family members also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 26th at the Johnson Cemetery on Tucker Hollow Road. Rev. Donnie Thomas will officiate.
